Thermal Insulation - Styropan XPS

The properties that differentiate Styropan XPS extruded polystyrene from other types of insulation materials are:

  • Very high mechanical strength (compressive stress at 10% deformation, tensile strength perpendicular to faces, shear strength) thus high load-bearing capacity which is particularly important in terraces, floors and especially industrial facilities floors etc.
  • Very low water absorption that makes it an ideal insulating material in applications such as in underground walls, inverted or green roofs etc.
  • Very low values of thermal conductivity coefficient, that ensure minimal heat flow between the building shell and the environment, achieving thermal comfort with the least possible energy consumption.
  • They are 100% recyclable and they do not contain chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), hydro-chlorofluorocarbon (HCFC) or hydro-fluorocarbon (HFC).
  • They exhibit excellent adhesion to concrete or mortars as they can be manufactured without the extrusion skin and/or in the form of embossed, rhomboidal surface (e.g. Styropan XPS ETICS EMB).

Description

Styropan XPS extruded polystyrene is a foamed, synthetic material, widely known worldwide with many applications in buildings. It is a “closed cell structure” material, which, through polymerization process and continuous extrusion takes the form of thermal insulation panels.
Thanks to its exceptional thermal insulation capacity and mechanical behavior, the foam extruded polystyrene Styropan XPS is widely used in a variety of applications, offering reliable construction solutions for architects, civil engineers, contractors and technicians.
